Of course this is a few weeks late, that's just how we roll around here. This year for Patrick's birthday we decided to venture out from the backyard and head over to the pool/splash park. The forecast was a little worrisome (as it is every year) but it turned out to be a beautiful warm sunny day (as it is every year). Patrick had a lot of fun with his preschool, neighborhood and family friends. Cousins Nora and Maeve came down from Michigan and Mackenzie, Mark, Claire and Allie made it too! Maybe the pool party will become a new birthday tradition.Patrick is such a fun 4 year old. He has a super imagination and loves pretend playing with his cars! Cars 2 finally came out the week of his birthday. I'm not sure which he was more excited about? He's also quite the storyteller. His lastest story is that he used to live in Mexico where he had a sister and they both died and then God sent him to us. The God sending him to us is our/Catholic preschool's response to his question "Where did I come from?" We're not sure where the Mexico part is from, maybe his Texas roots? and Grandma Betty passed away in the fall so we think that is where the died and gone to heaven with God is from? The questions are getting harder and harder to answer and he always remembers the answer so we have to stay on our toes, but it's fun!
Besides Cars 2, this has also become the summer of sharks. Patrick got a new big boy/trundle bed and we picked up some sharks sheets to decorate the bed. He loves to pick out shark books at the library (which makes his Dad very proud) and he got his first fish aquarium and beta fish who he named Pita, for his Birthday. So far he has been a very responsible fish owner and has remembered to feed him every night. Keeping Pita company every night by sleeping in his new big boy bed is still a work in progress!
We just can't believe what a big boy Patrick is now. Time is flying by but it is so much fun to watch him grow.

Happy Birthday Patrick!
We are in Milwaukee now...and there is a (little)splash pad at our local park, it would be lots of fun if you would like to visit...I'd love to see you and meet the famous Patrick in person :)
Alanna, so glad you are getting settled in Milwaukee, just in time for this crazy heat this weekend! Maybe we can sneek away for a day in August? It would be so fun to get the boys together and catch up with my long lost grandkid, ha!
Happy belated! 4 is a big boy! It goes to fast...
