Summer 2011

We had a busy summer again this year. We headed to Michigan in July a couple of times and went camping and boating, but stayed home most of August and enjoyed the City.

This year I was able to attend the WTTW (public television) event with Patrick and Charlie. It was a rainy day, but it didn't stop us from seeing our favorites! Especially the Wild Kratts and Arthur, very exciting.

August we stayed home most of the month and enjoyed our first White Sox game with a group from church. Patrick loved it and still talks about it. He loves to pretend he is number 20 (the jersey he wore) and runs the bases around the couch in the living room. He also became a Katy Perry fan that night when they played her Firework song during the after game fireworks.

Since we were in Chicago for the hottest part of the summer, we had to find a way to cool off. Luckily I had bought a groupon for the Skokie Park District splash pools. We went quite a few times to one where we had the splash park to ourselves. We missed Michigan, but the splash parks helped us make it.

Patrick attended a summer camp this summer where every Friday was a field trip. I helped out in the beginning of the summer when they attended a petting zoo. Charlie volunteered when they went to a Chuckie Cheese type place (one of the really hot weeks) and Grandma and Grandpa were in town when they went miniature golfing. I'm not sure Patrick was a real fan, but it looked like fun!

Probably our biggest excitement of the summer is that we found out that Patrick is going to be a BIG BROTHER! More on that in our Fall update coming soon.
